President Donald Trump’s power is alarming because we have a republican majority in Congress who like the fact they now have a republican in the White House. They will let Trump get away with a lot of dangerous mischief before taking action. That’s why the Ways and Means Committee blocked a request for President Trump’s tax returns. It’s obvious that Trump has something to hide.
This afternoon, Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee again blocked a request for President Trump’s tax returns.
Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, offered an amendment to the GOP’s healthcare bill, now being marked up in the Ways and Means Committee, requesting Trump’s federal tax returns from the Treasury so the Ways and Means Committee could review them. The amendment required that the returns be made available to committee members and staff, not to the public. Doggett is the ranking member on the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Tax Policy.
Doggett cited reports that Trump would get a tax benefit from the new Republican healthcare bill.
But Ways and Means Republican chairman Kevin Brady ruled that Doggett’s amendment was not in order, killing it without a vote.

Look: Evidence is mounting about potential Trump connections with Russian agents who tried to rig the election in his behalf. Evidence is also mounting about Trump’s conflicts of financial interest around the world. He’s the first president in decades to refuse to make his tax returns public. He has said he won't release his returns while he is under audit by the IRS, but the IRS has said an audit does not bar release.
We need to see his tax returns. Cover-ups don’t go away. They just get worse.
