NBC Chicago: JOB CUTS ENDURE AT INDIANA FACTORIES DESPITE TRUMP PRESSURE

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders — US Senator for Vermont

Once again, Trump proves he doesn’t give a damn about working people. In December, he told workers in Indiana that “companies are not going to leave the United States anymore without consequences. It’s not going to happen." Well, it’s happening. 1,500 people in Indiana are losing their jobs to Mexico where companies can pay a fraction of the wages they pay here. And what are the "consequences" for Carrier Corporation? They get $7 million in tax breaks paid for by Indiana taxpayers—some of whom will have to pay for the tax breaks of a company that laid them off. As usual, Trump means nothing he says. Jobs lost. Families left behind. No consequences for huge, profitable corporations leaving our country.

President-elect Donald Trump starts his victory tour
at a Carrier plant in Indiana on Dec. 1, 2016,
celebrating Carrier's decision to keep a thousand jobs
slated for Mexico within the United States.
