ABC NEWS: OBAMACARE FAVORABILITY NEARS RECORD PROPELLED BY INDEPENDENTS
“A new poll gauging the public's feelings on the ongoing battle over healthcare finds continued displeasure with the current policy direction, but near record positive impressions of the Affordable Care Act.”
Their displeasure has shown itself repeatedly at recent Republican held town hall meetings where congressional Republicans have been met with rowdy resistance to their plan to repeal AFC/Obamacare. According to the WashingtonPost, Republicans have been cancelling town hall meetings rather than face audiences upset that they may soon lose their health insurance.
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders:
"If you don't have the guts to face your constituents, you shouldn't be in the United States Congress. If you need police at the town hall meetings, that's fine, have police at the meetings, have security at the meetings. But don't use that as an excuse to run away from your constituents after you support repealing the Affordable Care Act, doing away with protections for pre-existing conditions. If you're going to do all those things, answer the questions your constituents have.
“There's a reason why Republicans don't want to face their constituents at town hall meetings. As they play politics with people's lives and move forward with repealing Obamacare, which would throw 20 million people off of health care, the number of Americans who view Obamacare favorably is almost a record high. To Republicans I say: Do your job. Listen to your constituents. This is not what the people want.”
