N.Y. Times -- After Britain Attack, Trump Feuds With London Mayor

During an interview on the BBC, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was “appalled and furious that these cowardly terrorists would target” innocent civilians and vowed that “we will never let them win, nor will we allow them to cower our city.” He went on to say that “Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. No reason to be alarmed. One of the things, the police, all of us need to do, is make sure we’re as safe as we possibly can be.”

Trump responded in a tweet, “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!’ ”

Trump again isn’t paying attention to what is being said or written. He interprets things to fit his worldview: that the world is not doing enough on terrorism and attacks are being ignored. In Trump’s mind, Khan is ignoring the London terror attack because he said there is “No reason to be alarmed.”

Outrage erupted on both sides of the Atlantic. The world interprets Trump’s tweet as another jab at Muslims. I bet Trump doesn’t know that Khan is the first Muslim to serve as mayor of a major Western European capital.

Trump is a dangerous man and an embarrassment to the United States. Why does the Republican Party continue to ignore this incredible, unhinged megalomaniac?
