Politico -- Trump has decided to end DACA, with 6-month delay (VIDEO)

Senior White House aides met Sunday afternoon to discuss how to roll out the controversial move affecting hundreds of thousands of Dreamers.

Is Trump’s plan to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), at this point, something we should be concerned about or is it just a tactic to get Congress to move on immigration reform.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has said that Congress is responsible for writing immigration law and he supposedly helped persuade the president to terminate the program and kick the issue to Congress.”

However, “White House aides caution that -- as with everything in the Trump White House -- nothing is set in stone until an official announcement has been made,” according to Politico.

Trump’s announcement is planned for Tuesday.

If Trump follows through with his promise to end DACA, one of his “core campaign promises,” it will be met with a considerable opposition from both Democrats and Republicans who have warned the President not to scrap the program.

Therefore, “the White House plans to delay the enforcement of the president’s decision for six months, giving Congress a window to act, according to one White House official. But a senior White House aide said that chief of staff John Kelly, who has been running the West Wing policy process on the issue, thinks Congress should’ve gotten its act together a lot longer ago.

More needless cruelty. Trump plans to end DACA, the Obama-era program that allows young people who came to the United States as children to remain here legally, according to Politico.

What’s the point of this? These children didn’t do anything wrong. They’ve been here most of their lives. So why is Trump doing it? To shore up his base. As Trump's agenda stalls and the Mueller investigation intensifies, he needs to give his core supporters something to cheer about.

Shame on Trump for targeting these vulnerable immigrants for political gain. We must stand up for these young people if he comes after them.

If Trump decides to end DACA, it will be one of the ugliest and cruelest decisions ever made by a president in our modern history. Taking away legal protections from 800,000 young people who have been raised in this country is absolutely counter to what we stand for as a nation. If Trump ends DACA, Congress must act immediately to restore it.
