WP -- Trump’s ‘fake news’ attack lost its power this week

We must always ask this question: “Whom to believe?” That’s always going to be the question with Donald Trump. The answer will be found in discovering what’s in it for the President, while always keeping in mind the fact he doesn’t tell the truth. These are the primary considerations when judging Trump’s words and actions. And in this case, it’s no different.

After Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer said Trump agreed to give long-term legal status to DACA recipients without securing funding for his “wall,” Trump said he hadn’t made this deal, exactly.

Whom to believe? Even pro-Trump commentators such as Tucker Carlson, Ann Coulter, and Breitbart News believe Schumer and Pelosi over Trump. All are complaining that Trump is waffling on the wall.

Forget it. America needs sea walls and containing walls to stop the flooding, as seas rise. We don’t need a border wall to contain unauthorized immigrants, whose numbers were dwindling even under Obama.

Yesterday, the Washington Post reported:

News outlets that President Trump has branded fake news reported Trump agreed in principle to grant long-term legal status to DACA recipients — a big item on Democrats' wish list — without securing funding for a Southern border wall in return. Trump said the media and the Democrats who say they negotiated with him were mischaracterizing the situation.

Given a choice of whom to believe, reliably pro-Trump commentators, such as Tucker Carlson, Ann Coulter, and Mike Cernovich chose the media, Charles E. Schumer and Nancy Pelosi over the president.

Mark it down: This is the week that Trump's fake news attack lost its power.

Here’s the rest of the story:
