Lieutenant Governor of California Gavin Newsom tells us of the heartbreaking deportation story of Maribel Diaz and her family.
"Trujillo-Diaz, 41, a mother of four American-born children with no criminal record, entered the country illegally nearly 15 years, fearing Mexican cartels that had threatened her family, according to federal court records."
Despite the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati call for mercy, saying Diaz has made positive contributions to her church and community, "The Cincinnati-based 6th U.S. Circuit Court of appeals granted the Justice Department’s request to dismiss the appeal by Maribel Trujillo Diaz. The terse ruling by a three-judge panel says her bid for court intervention wasn’t timely, noting she had been subject to a final order of removal since 2014."
Ohio’s Republican governor John Kasich, who ran against Trump in the presidential primary, said, “We have enough broken families in the country, And now what we’re going to do is go hunt them down and ship them out and break up the family and scare the kids?
The state doesn’t have jurisdiction in the immigration matter. There’s nothing I can do about it. In case you didn’t know, I’m not president.”
As long as Donald Trump is President of the United States we will continue to hear similar stories.
