“Trump once again appeared to promote violence against the media today, retweeting a cartoon of a train slamming into a figure with CNN's logo superimposed on its torso. The caption read, ‘Fake news can’t stop the Trump train.’ Yesterday, Trump belittled CNN correspondent Jim Acosta for asking follow-up questions about his prolonged response to Charlottesville.
“As you'll recall, last month Trump tweeted an old video clip of him performing in a WWE professional wrestling match, with a CNN logo superimposed on the head of his opponent. He has also called the press enemies of the American people.
“This is all part of Trump's strategy to mobilize his supporters against any criticism of him. These memes and shows of contempt are also meant to intimidate the media. This is an unprecedented campaign against freedom of the press, the cornerstone of our democracy,” -- Robert Reich.
