Intercept -- Top-Secret NSA Report Details Russian Hacking Effort Days Before 2016 Election
Multiple news sources are citing a highly classified intelligence report indicating that Russian military intelligence hacked at least one US voting software supplier and sent spear-phishing emails to more than 100 local election officials just before the presidential election last year.
Late yesterday, the FBI arrested a Georgia woman who is a government contractor and charged her with espionage for leaking the classified information.
This is big news because it goes far beyond hacking emails. The Russians went after America’s election infrastructure. One has to question why President Trump harps on false claims of voter fraud and rigged elections when he has no apparent reason for doing so. Was he aware of the Russian effort? There is much circumstantial evidence that leads to Trump’s awareness and leads to questions regarding his relationship with Putin and the Russian government.
