On Tuesday, January 12, President Obama will deliver his eight State of the Union (SOTU) address. Although other presidents have chosen to deliver post-election SOTU addresses—Lyndon Johnson in 1969, while Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, and Jimmy Carter submitted theirs in writing—most likely, it will be President Obama’s last.

President Obama’s Passionate Plea for Tightened Gun Regulations

Well, as expected, Presidents Obama’s earnest call to tighten gun regulations through executive order has been a windfall for gun companies. Their stocks soared on the expectation that tightened gun regulations will make it harder for responsible gun owners to buy a gun. It seems to me that responsible gun owners, who supposedly obey the gun laws, should have no problem with tightening regulations to keep guns from people who should not own guns — terrorist, criminals, the mentally ill. As President Obama said, “A majority of gun owners agree that we can respect the Second Amendment while keeping an irresponsible law-breaking few form inflicting harm on a massive scale.”
